August we celebrated our 2 year anniversary in Asia! This month we celebrate a big one…10 years of marriage Sept 15th!
The time does fly by too fast. We moved here and our little ones were 2 and 4 years old, now they are 4 and 6 years! Wow I did not see time flying by so fast. Now that we are here we look back and see all the wonderful blessings in our lives over that time. We are so grateful for our life here in Asia. It has been a short 2 years yet many doors have been opened. Those open doors range from teaching university students to volunteering in the government orphanage. Our language study has helped us to have deep relationships with those around us and our house feels like home. Really an amazing two years it has been!
We want to share so much more with all of you face to face! That means we are coming to the states for a visit Jan-March. We can’t wait to spend time with family and friends and catch up with everyone. Though facebook is a big blessing we still miss out on how you all are doing. We hope to get to spend a good amount of time with people.
I just wonder if our kids will have a 3rd culture experience and feel ‘out of place’ or fit right back in to their American roots. I also wonder if they will want to stay in America or be ready to be back in Asia where home is. All these things float through my mind as we prepare for our return. I wonder if Noah will stop on a public sidewalk and think it is OK to pee on the flowers? Or will Alleyah walk up to a perfect stranger’s kid and touch their cheek talking about an inch away from the child’s face? The culture shock was subtle coming here, but returning back to America I think will be more of a culture shock. Hearing everything in English and understanding everything people say all the time. Maybe the grocery store will be a shock to see an aisle full of cereal instead of instant noodles? Who knows what else will be a shock to our system even thought it is our culture. I guess if anything it is a good sign that we have adjusted here right?
Well we will keep you all updated as time comes closer to our visit. We really look forward to seeing as many people as we can.
